This chapter reports on a two-day experimental research workshop that focused on the relationship between costume and candlelight on the eighteenth-century stage, which took place in 2017 at the Ulriksdal Palace Theatre, in the outskirts of Stockholm. Providing an overview of the lighting situation on eighteenth-century stages, it discusses the sources that were used for the recreation of the costume for a Fury, with tools drawn from experimental archaeology, and analyses the dramatic effect of the costume in performance.
